Biografía
MisterWives formed because the singer, Mandy Lee wished to have a 1980s cover band for her birthday party so she teamed up with her musician friends Etienne Bowler and William Hehir. They grew into a five-piece band and played their very first show on February 1st 2013, at the Canal Room in NYC. After playing the Canal Room, they signed to Island Def Jam, subsidiary, Photo Finish Records. They spent a year touring and working on their first EP. They even embarked on a six-week tour with American Authors and The Royal Concept.
The band finally released their debut EP, entitled “Reflections” on January 7th 2014. The title track from this six-song EP featured on the iTunes’ Single of the Week for the week of January 6th. They sold over 20,000 copies since, with Victoria Mier from Alter the Press giving the album 4.5/5. It made it to number 84 on the Billboard 200, also making it to number 24 on the alternative charts. It was in July 2014, that the band managed to have their song feature as the opening theme of the MTV Teen Drama entitled Finding Carter.
In the latter half of 2014, the band has opened for Twenty-One Pilots, on the Quiet Is Violent world tour. They have been hailed as the “next golden children of pop”. They have also made appearances on VH1’s Bigg Morning Buzz and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In one sentence, tonight's Misterwives concert at The Vic was one of the most amazingly beautiful nights of my life! I've been going to more concerts this past year, because I've realized how much joy they bring me, and this is the second time I have seen them. I was turned onto their music accidentally - first I heard, and loved, "Vagabond" when the MTV show "Finding Carter" adopted it as their theme. Then, after I found out who sang that and noted the band name, I stumbled across "Reflections" on a Spotify playlist (the #1 way I find new music) and was like, "ooh, who is this? I like it!" only to find that it was the same band. I'm a music nerd, so this made me go to YouTube and look up ALL their songs and before I knew it, I was purchasing their CD on Amazon.
That's the very long version of how I got here - how I, to put it simply, fell in love with a band. "Vagabond" is one of those songs that rushes at you and then stands still in front of you, forcing you to realize the moment you're in and what it means. That stand-alone line, "pretending to not feel alone," is what jumped at me and made me eyes well up -- that's the soul of the song. So going to see Misterwives has been all about these moments with these songs that gut me with their lyrics - mostly simple, mostly catchy...but then BOOM, there's that little something, that nugget of heartbreak and wisdom tucked away in the refrain to catch you completely off guard.
Onstage, Mandy Lee and her compatriots are energetic, funny and fierce. You can tell they genuinely like each other and sincerely love this thing they're creating. They dance, they jump around and then, there are the songs. Oh, the songs! I am so lucky to have been at two of their shows this year, and I hope they will continue to create inspiring, catchy, wise, heartwrenching tunes so that I can see them again and again.
Best. Gig. Ever.
This is the first time I have seen misterwives live. I love their music and I hoped that they sounded as amazing live as they did on their albums. Yes I'm old, I still listen to albums in their entirety.
We frequently attend gigs with our 'gig family'(this was our 2nd this week) and we love live music but this show was something else. The energy, passion and excitement coupled with the stage presence and meaningful lyrics, interspersed with free flowing conversation of value (I think I remember the words live unapologetically) made this my most memorable gig ever.
The lead singer not only has the most beautiful voice and is stunning but also can dance like a crazy person and sing at the same time. Every man and woman there probably fell in love with her a little bit. I remember at one moment she tripped onstage and my fiancee said to her friend "thank god she isn't perfect".
The band are incredibly talented musically and the encore was filled with an alternative version of one of their classics and a bit of drumming. Apart from some of my favourite Misterwives songs, we were treated to Linger by the Cranberries in honour of Dolores.
I can't praise them enough. the band were genuinely lovely (we hung around and met them afterwards, Kudos to Will especially) and my Fiancee discovered where Mandy bought her sparkly shoes from.
I really want them to become massive but remain the lovely, excited people who were so happy to be playing their music and doing what they love. I wish them every success and hope to catch them again soon wherever they may tour.
Today we have been mostly wearing Misterwives T shirts and listening to their songs, wishing we could dance like Mandy and the band.
If you are unfamiliar with Misterwives, I would advise that you become familiar. The New York City band consisting of Mandy Lee, Etienne Bowler, Will Hehis, Jesse Blum and Marc Campbell have an absolutely great sound. It is unique enough to recognize them as Misterwives, but it has the type of appeal that the large masses can get into them. The fairly new band has just begun their upward climb, and I’m seriously excited for all that’s to come for them.
The opportunity to watch their live performance of their “Reflections” EP was really great. Opening with the title track, the stage was set with the same slightly ominous tone that the song has. With her mic stand decorated with white flowers, Mandy goes into the vocals and her voice is more ethereal than the recorded versions of the songs. The emotions hit you hard, but at the same time, the music is upbeat and you somehow find yourself dancing to the music, as does the band themselves. They are having a great time on stage, and their chemistry can’t be faked even if they tried. All of them seem extremely personable as demonstrated by their between song conversations and banter.
Although New York outfit Misterwives only really broke from beneath the radar in 2013, they seem to have constantly appearing on 'ones to watch' and 'must see' lists since then due to the energetic live show that accompanies their debut album 'Our Own House'. The six musicians onstage have clearly been practising this work for a long time before having broke through and this level of dedication is really evident this evening.
From the title track opener, the group is ready to demonstrate there is in fact solid reason to the amount of hype that surrounds this new band. The shiny, bouncing indie pop is record perfect this evening and the sound quality is absolutely on point tonight. All the musicians onstage simply blend together whilst allowing vocalist Amanda Duffy to really shine on 'Box Around the Sun'. 'Twisted Tongue' from the band's debut EP gets a large cheer and the band are genuinely pleased the crowds know this older gem. Having showcased the debut in its entirety as well as a cover of 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson, Misterwives prove they are not simply another exhausted product of the hype-machine.
Amazingly mind-blowing. I knew that the concert was going to be good going into it because all three acts are talented in their own rights, but the live show exceeded my expectations.
From the Handsome Ghost the modest opener with pipes of gold, to BORNS that brought an electrical performance to MisterWives whose jumpy enthusiasm seemed to pour over the crowd inviting you to come join the party. The three acts perfectly complemented each other in almost every way.
I left the concert in awe, thinking that was a show worthy of large stadiums and here I got to see them seven rows back for only $13. I would have pay four times that amount to see them again. Worth every penny.

The concert was Amazing!!! Everyone in the band had so much energy and you could tell that they all get on really well and enjoy what they're doing. I love that Mandy would talk between some of the songs to get the audience in the right mood and everyone seemed so focused on what she would say. I love that not one member is more or less important than another. The band has such a strong stage presence and the whole show was incredible to watch and listen to.
The concert was absolutely amazing!! There was so much energy and I was so happy to see everyone perform again I was smiling the entire time, you guys did a great job performing and keeping the energy, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you for coming to Phoenix and performing, this was the best early birthday gift I could ever ask for and I will never forget it. Best wishes and safe travels!! <3 <3

What an amazing concert. I had a blast. I have a broken ankle from a prior accident and the lead singers of the opening bands both signed my cast! Mandy Lee had so much energy, the vocals were just as good live as on the digital album, and the rest of the band was so interactive and fun! Well put together and extremely exciting
This was my second time seeing Misterwives live and they never to disappoint. The other acts complemented eachother and kept the excitement alive. Her motivational words connected everyone in the crowd. Personally I would have liked to have more light and tech to inhanse the stage pressants.
