The band starts with the instrumental and loud Tick of the Clock, which is played very shortly.
Ruth Radelet joins on stage. She has the charm of a platinum blonde with sharp make-up. One can notice that time is passing also for the 37-years old ice queen.
The next song is Lady, it’s a perfect intro for Ruth’s voice.
Then comes Kill for Love.
It’s a song that Ruth wrote in a state of melancholy and it talks about a person killing herself with sleeping pills. Despite the somber theme, the song is quite light and the musical interlude sparkling.
Night Drive is kind of trapped in its repetitive guitar riff. The vocals remind Lady.
The lyrics of Back from the Grave describe perfectly the mood the song makes me feel: “the music was soot
All the pleasure and pain washed away with the wind”
A very rhythmic song with a nice guitar and bass line.
These Streets will never look the same is the only song where Adam Miller sings with a distortion. The song reminds a lot Unkle “In A State”.
Other highlights from the concert are the sweet Cherry and Shadow, I Want Your Love from Night Drive and the covers of Hey Hey, My My, Running up that Hill and especially the very sweet I’m on Fire.
My friend is a huge fan of the Chromatics and had a few tickets to a show that they were playing at a small venue in our town. I decided to go with her to see what the fuss was all about. What an amazing band and what a great show.
The band played on a small stage with almost no lighting, which I didn’t mind because the band didn’t need it. They appear to be a very minimalist band, who doesn’t put on a big show. I found it refreshing, it really fit the atmosphere of the show.
The crowd was packed in the small venue and everyone was dancing and singing along to the entire show. The band took moments from the show to speak to the crowd and let us know some of the new things they were working on and for us to be on the look out for.
They played songs such as Tick of the Clock, Kill for Love, I’m on Fire, In The City, Running Up that Hill and my favorite song of the night, These Streets Will Never Look the Same. I’m glad I decided to take a chance on this band, and am a huge fan of theirs now.
Amazing band, and amazing live performance. The light show was really nice, and very fitting to the music, and the instruments and the lead singer's voice sound very good live. They played all my favorite songs, like Cherry, Time rider, Shadow, and I'm on fire. It would've been nice to hear some new songs, since they had just launched their new album.
All in all, it was the first concert of this music genre that I've attended so far, and I definitely want more.
ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!! Bought 3 Vinyls, all of the CD's, and 2 posters and 2 shirts. They gave me 2 free posters and 1 free shirt. That was awesome!!! I'm very happy I went to go see them live!
Really great show, but unfortunately the bass drum was way to high. For some reason it's really important that a review be thirty words long. Thus I am filling space to comply with this silly rule.
