Biografía
Making an early name for himself with the release of his eponymously-titled debut in 1995, Mystikal subsequently inked a deal with Jive Records. With major-label backing the rapper built on the success of his debut by issuing the full-length “Mind of Mystikal” in October 1996. The album was in large part a retaliation to Cash Money Records’ rappers U.N.L.V., Lil Wayne and B.G., whom he had developed a feud with. Produced by L. “Precise” Edwards, the album showcased Mystikal’s intense lyrical speed, and raw approach to rap delivery.
The rapper subsequently signed with Master P’s No Limit Records in 1996 in a co-agreement with Jive Records. His debut release on the new label, entitled “Unpredictable”, became a surprise hit peaking at No. Three on the Billboard 200 and topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart upon its release in November 1997. The album earned positive reviews from the musical press, went platinum, and marked the first appearance of Snoop Dogg as a “No Limit Soldier”. The album granted Mystikal a wealth of exposure, surpassing that of the No Limit roster, and produced his last album on the label in 1998. “Ghetto Fabulous”, like its predecessor was produced by the Beats by the Pound production team, and debuted at No. Five on the Billboard 200.
The album cemented Mystikal as a respected and well-recognised Dirty South rapper in the same league as Juvenile and Ludacris. Now signed to Jive Records, the rapper wasted no time in releasing “Let’s Get Ready” in 2000. The hits “Danger (Been So Long)” and the Neptune-produced hit “Shake Ya Ass” aided the album’s popularity and led to Mystikal’s first No. One album. Unlike the raw, unpolished approach taken by Mystikal on his previous albums, “Let’s Get Ready” attempts to hone in on his aggressive funk with more accessible soul sensibilities.
The rapper subsequently release his sixth album “Tarantula” in 2002, which spawned the popular hit single “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against The Wall)”. A year later Mystikal was rewarded with two Grammy nominations for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Album.

Given that Michael Lawrence Tyler - or Mystikal, to give him his long time stage name - is probably best known for a track titled ‘Shake Ya Ass’, it’s probably fair to say that hip hop fans looking for conscious social commentary or deep insight would be best advised to look elsewhere. It’s not that he didn’t toy with such concepts during his early career on Bad Boy records, during the early part of the nineties, and more that he became increasingly concerned with chart hits as his career continued; ‘Shake Ya Ass’, which was produced by The Neptunes, was a single from his Let’s Get Ready album, which went straight in at number one in his native United States in September of 2000, and eventually went platinum, too. Since then, a slew of legal issues have kept Mystikal from producing any new studio efforts since 2001’s Tarantula, although a new album, Original, could see the light by the end of this year after he signed to Cash Money Records back in 2010. He’s served jail time since then, but also performed live across America, with an energetic set at the Gathering of the Juggalos festival a particular highlight; look out for further live activity once Original drops.
Michael Lawrence Tyler better known by his stage name Mystikal is known globally for his hit single 'Shake Ya Ass'. Although some rappers use hip hop to make social and political commentary, Mystikal seems far more interested in ringing in the good times and enjoying the party atmosphere.
This means that the live show is assured to be a good, danceable evening that does not lend itself to arrogance or egotistical behaviour. Michael still has a sense of self-assuredness as he appears onstage preceded by a small entourage which includes musicians, a DJ, a couple of dancers and a hype-man. They take their place and begin to run through the hits of Tyler's discography playing 'Y'all Ain't Ready Yet' and 'Tarantula' early on in the set. It has been a long time since he has released a studio album so he tests out a couple of new tracks before reverting back to the obvious crowd pleaser of 'Shake Ya Ass' to end on an expected high with the whole audience jumping along under his command.
I traveled to Cincinnati to see Mystikal perform in October. He is a great performer. I really enjoyed the concert. He came out on stage after Bun B and Pastor Troy. I was surprised that he was one of the opening acts instead of the final performer of the evening. His performance was the best one of the evening. Mystikal and his DJ worked great together. I think he is fortunate to have such a good DJ. His DJ was the best DJ there that evening they the rapper or MC is only as good as his DJ.
Oh I got to review the review for mystical is that he was a no-show the Ying Yang Twins was wack juvenile was high all the R&B rappers that did show up for the concert it wasn't even what we thought it was it was a bad performance seem like everybody was on drugs so I word of advice mystical must was sober and then come but the rest of the gang don't smoke or drink and tell your performance is over that's from Lady vee
I really enjoyed his performance. This guy has so much talent. I've been a fan for years...Since I was 17 years old. I promised myself that I will travel wherever just to see this Man... I just Love, love, love him!!!!
The show was really good. They replaced Mystikal with Bobby Brown. I really wasn't feeling that, wanted to see Mystikal. Show was good overall, but Bobby Brown was terrible! I think anybody was impressed with Bobby.
