Reggae and hip hop were the biggest musical influences in my life, so getting the opportunity to watch Fort Knox Five at the Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver 2 years ago was not something to be missed. These guys are the definition of catchy, with hugely successful hits such as 'The Big Score' and remixes like 'Jeepers Creepers' by Louis Armstrong. With a crazy fresh sound, they're only getting bigger and bigger since their opening act on Gwen Stefani's Tour back in 2005.
The guys were electric onstage. Full of energy, full of passion, and full of attitude. Steve and Jon were their usually good-humoured selves, kidding around with the audience and constantly delivering a hugely enthusiastic performance. Rob wasn't far behind, and Sid kept his professional cool, just like expected. They're a group of really intuitive musicians, and the way they get a crowd entranced in their music is hugely impressive.
After seeing them perform, it was clear that they'd won over many hearts to their music. It's hard to hear their unique blend of reggae and funk and not feel like you're in the 90s, playing a Tony Hawk skater game with your older brother, and drinking a cherry coke. At least, that's where they always take me back!
