"Next Plane Home" is one of my favorite songs and so I was happy to see Daniel Powter live when he was playing somewhat near to my hometown.
I took my mom with me as I thought his music was classy enough that she wouldn't be embarrassed to be there with me (she's kind of old fashioned). I was happy when I saw her enjoying the show, I could tell she actually liked the music. And so did I. It's so relaxing and it just makes you want to sway along with it. Almost like watching the waves wash up on the shore. Very calm and peaceful lyrics.
The venue was actually kind homey and small. With a small audience; there was probably only 100 or so of us. To me, that made it A LOT more personable and therefore enjoyable. Between songs Daniel would talk with us, I mean like we had an actual conversation and not just that propaganda most artists display between songs. It was great, it was like when you hear a song and you're like OMG! That's my life! But, meeting the guy who wrote the song and finding out how much you really have in common. It's a weird 'it's a small world' type feeling that is very positive, in my opinion. If you haven't had the chance, I would check him out!
