The Bros Landreth are at times Little Feat reincarnated. Harmonies, vocals and musicianship of the highest level. They don’t seem to realise how good they really are. It felt like they were genuinely just pleased to be there. Great connection with the audience making feel like we were in a local pub gig.
Just outstanding.
Thought I was going to have to drive to NYC or Hamilton, Ont. to catch Begonia perform. Then the stars aligned and Songkick spit out an announcement that Begonia would be at The Haymarket Lounge. Excellent.
Take all the great aspects of the songs you may have streamed -- fabulous vocal styling, heartfelt lyrics, superb accompaniment -- and add on unaffected humor, positive energy, sincere engagement with the audience. Together they make a Monday night show feel like the weekend.
Hoping they come back to Boston soon.
-- p.s. Still tempted to check out the Liquid Arts Festival. Begonia and beer, sounds like a great way to kick off the summer.
There are many artists who share pretty decent music. One listens, one finds it amazing, one has a chance to attend a live event and ... the magic goes away. There's something surprisingly reassuring in the fact that concerts and real-time performances reveal true talent. One that outshines today's world, full of filters, software features, and apps that let everyone sound breathtakingly wonderful.
I listened to Joey's EP and found it really cool. I went to Borderline last night, and was blown away. This guy can sing!:) and while a CD- version is really pleasing to the ear, his songs sound 100-times better when heard live!
Great support from Mary Spender, too.
Cool venue.
A real treat.
