Rage formed in 1984, however, they were not called Rage. They were called Avenger. They didn’t change their name to Rage after that though. Oh no. First they were called FURIOUS RAGE. They were literally called ANGRY ANGER. So now that we’ve gotten the fact that they’re the greatest band of all time out of the way, now I can let you know that their live show more than matches up to the awesomeness of their name(s) and strictly in terms of awesomeness blows it completely out the water. Rage are a pretty fascinating mix of riffs pilfered from prog and speed metal but played with the scope and scale of power metal, they even have their own orchestra for crying out loud! It’s tailor made to sound incredible live, and there is truly something for every metal head in existence. There’s metallic heft for everyone down to mosh, enough technical wizardry from both the band and their orchestra (THEIR OWN ORCHESTRA) to appease any instrumentalists in the audience and more than enough operatic vocals to make anyone act out their Ronnie James Dio fantasies no matter who might be watching and/or judging. That said, it’s a metal show, no-one will be judging, everyone will be too busy worshipping at the feet of one of the true unsung metal giants of our time. If you’re any shape or form of metal head, I cannot recommend this high enough. One to see as soon as possible.
