Always good to see Let Spin
Better still to see them in a small underground venue such as the Con Cellar under the Contstitution pub on the canal in Camden
Usually its a double header Friday night gig organised by sax player George Crowley
The regular band members Moss Freed on quitar, Ruth Goller on electric bass and Chris Williams on sax were ably supported by a stand in drummer
They write their own material and for me the stand out track was Goller's tribute to Charlie Hadden - evoking memories of the Liberation Orchestra man himself
They are a stellar collective whose members play in several leading edge bands and it's only a few weeks since I saw Goller perform with Melt Yourself Down at the best gig at Cheltenham (also underground - at Subtone) - it does sometimes feel as if there's a jazz led underground movement bubbling to burst open and out into the market place
