Chris Pureka is a very androgynous singer songwriter who takes to the stage with her acoustic guitar this evening to perform some of her biggest material to date. She has been around for the best part of eight years, writing and recording her material, and of course touring it too. Her set takes some twists and turns lyrically, making waves in this audience either way. “Lowlands” is a worthy sing along that this audience partakes in, and then songs such as “Shipwreck”, make this audience so quiet, as they stop completely what they’re doing stand still and listen to every word that Pureka is singing. Her band is fantastic in backing her with the odd instrumentation of a bass guitar a violin an electric guitarist but no drummer which is strange and a little bit out of the ordinary but the sound that they make is so different, it doesn’t even matter, if a little unpredictable. “Wrecking Ball” closes the set in style.
