Icelandic instrumental jazz funk fusion music, how unbelievably awesome does that sound? Well the band Mezzoforte has taken this awesome concept and made it come to life. Johann Asmundsson (bass), Oskar Gudjonsson (saxophones), Eythor Gunnarsson (keyboards), Sebastian Studnitzky (trumpet and keyboards), Bruno Muller (guitar) and Gulli Briem (drums) came together in 1977 and have since continued to tour and give people an experience with their performance.
Watching their live show is such a joy and probably one of the best times of your life. It is so unbelievably lighthearted and people who come together to watch are just looking to have a good time. A good time that is delivered perfectly by the band, who are probably having more fun than anyone else in the room. Their chemistry together is so pure and you know that if they didn’t have it down so well, they wouldn’t nearly be as good. The music is so funky, and when you hear it live, and let it surround you, you feel so involved, almost as if the music takes over you body and soul. It’s also great to see the contrast of the few times that they fall into complete concentration mode, and effortlessly play their instruments.
