A host of rock ’n’ roll heavyweights are coming together to celebrate the life, legacy and unmistakable basslines of Gary “Mani” Mounfield — the heartbeat of a generation and a pillar of Manchester music.

Organised by Madchester.com and GIOGOI, and blessed by Mani’s family, Manichester will unite artists who played with him, learned from him, or were shaped by that iconic low-end rumble that changed British music forever.

And that’s just the start — more names incoming, with a major headliner announcement dropping the week before the show.

The spark for this tribute came from a moment in São Paulo, when Damon Minchella played the bassline from She Bangs the Drums to 80,000 people and the place erupted. That’s the power of Mani. That’s the legacy we’re honouring.

Artwork for the event comes from none other than John Squire, whose new design will feature on flyers, promo and limited-edition physical tickets.

All proceeds will support Mani and Imelda’s twin boys, Gene and George, honouring the love, strength and spirit that defined their family.

As GIOGOI put it: “Manchester is the best city in the world, and we do things differently here.”
