What an amazing night at the New Capps Clubb in Kenmorefor Stacy Jones on the bill with Adrain Xavier, Ayron Jones and surprise guests The Eric Tessmer band from Texas.
This club was an italian restaurant with cheesey velvet wall paper and ow it has been artfully re-created into an upscale urban music venue with open beam ceilings and two big music spaces and a full bar with loads of room to move. The new music app Gig town sponsored the event so admission was free! And folks quickly lined up to get into the main music room before the doors opened.
Xavier played a soulful acoustic duo set to open the show. Quickly getting the crowd to sing and groove along. Stacy Jones and her dynamic band got the joint up and dancing right off the bat with her southern rockin' blues thump, playing tunes from her award winning alub 'Whiskey, Wine and Water.' Jones showed off her skills on guitar and vocals and then lit up the room with a firey cover of Tina Turner's 'Nut bush City Limits,' that featured her hot harmonica playing as she spared with guitarrist jeff Menteer. The crowd dug her brand new tunes especially the power ballad 'Wait for Heaven.'
Eric Tessmer trio found themselves stranded in Seattle without a show after east coast weather stalled their tour. Andy Altman founder of Gig Town got word of thier plight and added them to the showcase. This power funk trio blasted the house with swirling guitars and pounding heavy duty funk.
Ayron Jones has been a rising star on the Seattle scene for some time now. his trio drove a mixture of super sonic metal infused soul opening with his anthem 'The Boys of the Puget Sound,' featuring large riffs and crushing grooves. Jones took the jazz standard Georgia on My Mind," to new corners by digginn deep into the blues roots behind the tune and exploring dynamic guitar solos.
The place was treated to an epic encore as Jones invited Tessmer to join in and traid licks for a furious cover of Hendix 'Little Wing,' a fitting tribute to the Seattle born icon who we lost on a September night long ago ,but who's influence these two gunslingers wear proudly.
