References to The Prodigy and Pendulum certainly makes sense when describing the Qemists' music, yet they certainly manage to bring their own unique flavour to their drum & bass that has been whacked into a blender along with an ample dose of distorted guitars metallic riffs. The Qemists are a trio of producers from Brighton who channel the rhythmic energy of jungle and breakbeat through a gauze of heavy rock, creating an undeniably energetic, hard-hitting sound that is destined to destroy dance floors.
They began as a rock band but became hooked on the rave scene that developed. They then became interested in production and began making electronic music that still retained a heavier, distorted tone of the bands they grew up listening and playing to. A third album is in the works, with the trio continuing to tour globally since their 2010 album. With the music as it is, they deliver a riotous performance, prime for ample fist pumping and head banging as they play their biggest tunes. "Take it Back," "S.W.A.G" and the dancehall banger "Dem Na Like Me" are worth checking out to get a flavour of the eclectic mix on offer. With pounding beats and heavy riffs, The Qemists are a quality act that is definitely worth watching.
Far better than I'd expected!
The two frontmen were very interactive with the crowd and kept the energy levels high.
A good mix of stuff from their new album and old favourites.
I'll definitely be seeing them again!
