Arguably the best voice in the current wave of new bands.
That was easily proven with Friday night's gig at the Islington Assembly Halls. From the moment that Inglorious took to the stage to the final chords they were full on. That's not to say there weren't moments when they reined it in, but even during those they give it their all.
They opened with new song Read All About It; from the crowds reaction, they were more than happy to hear the new stuff. I guess that's one of the joys of being a new band - no lengthy back catalogue to try and squeeze in.
I've seen Inglorious on two and a half previous occasions (half? yep, stuck in the very, very, slow moving queue to get in to Ramblin' Man festival meant we heard the band over the fence but didn't get to see them. But that's another story!); on those occasions they have thrown in a couple of covers of rock greats: Lay Down, Stay Down; Fool For Your Loving. This time although they had enough material to fill the set with their own, they still tipped a hat to their heroes.
Given what had happened only days before, the first of these was a homage to Chris Cornell by performing Black Hole Sun. Pitched just right in my opinion as exactly that, a homage. That was immediately followed by an acoustic version of Burn.
They kept the energy up at full right through until the final notes of Until I Die faded away into the rapturous crowd. To see the faces of the band, in my opinion, there seemed to be a little awe at the place they find themselves in after a reasonably short time: sending a room full of people crazy. I couldn't see arrogance there. They loved every minute as much as we, the audience, did!
Long may they continue in that vein!
Originally saw Inglorious perform with Steel Panther having never heard of them before. They were awesome! Such a massive energy, really got the crowd moving and set us up for an awesome night.
After that they quickly became a favourite & I listen to them almost daily. So was stoked to see they were coming to Nottingham again!
I don't know what it was but seeing them a second time was actually pretty disappointing. The energy wasn't close to what I remembered from last time & some things were just off. Blind River definitely aren't an acoustic band (followed them on Spotify that night, when played the way they intended their music is great!) So not sure why Inglorious would have a heavy band open with an all acoustic set?
It's awesome that they've got Danny with them now - actually went to school with him & saw him perform a lot previously so it was an awesome experience seeing how far someone can come in such a short time. It did make me kind of sad though, I know he idolized slash but to have the Les Paul and the huge curly hair and the shiny trousers is a bit much. Kinda lacks authenticity. He's got so much talent! There's no need to follow someone else's footsteps so closely.
Also, totally get that they're promoting a new album with this tour but as it had only been out for a week or so a lot of the set was quite hard to get into/sing along with as we hadn't been able to really listen to all the songs yet. All in all it was just kinda sad & we ended up leaving early
The show opened with a well received set from up and coming blues rock guitar maestro Ali Clinton.
He is a great player and his band are tight - well worth checking out.
Inglorious hit the stage to a backing tape of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" and launched into "Until I Die" from their debut album.
Augmented by keyboards, they are able to bring their full sound to the stage and they certainly make an impact.
Singer Nathan's range and power dominate proceedings as they perform most of their recently released CD, plus Rainbow (and Russ Ballard's) "I Surrender", Toto's "Girl Goodbye" and "Lay Down, Stay Down" from Deep Purple's "Burn" LP.
The cover's indicate the style of music - 70's classic rock with dualing guitars, harmony vocals and lots of hair! Their own material stands up well to these covers and the quality of musicianship is top notch.
The band put a lot of energy into their show and while an extra 15 minutes would be fine, there is only one album to plunder for material and the keyboard player was only making his third appearance with the band, so maybe that is a bit too critical!
The Robin2 is a great venue (my favourite)and the sound is always great so a band like Inglorious will certainly have benefitted from this.
I would love to see them there again, next time around perhaps, but they appear to be on the crest of a wave and may be moving on to bigger (though probably not better) things.
This was my first time seeing Inglorious, I was expecting them to be good, but they were ever better than my expectations! They had great interaction with the crowd, and played their asses off. Their cover of songs from artist recently passed were emotional and executed brilliantly. Can't wait to see these guys again
Absolutely awesome concert at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham. Inglorious are the best new rock band I have heard. Their first 2 CDs are fantastic and they covered most of the songs off them on the night. Just brilliant! I'm still singing along two days later.
Been to see Inglorious several times now. Awesome as always! New band members, alongside Beaver and Nathan's amazing vocals, deliver 100%. Already looking forward to the next gig and more material from the band.
Another fantastic awesome concert from Inglorious. Just cannot be missed. Looking forward to the next one already. The new line up certainly delivers. Nathan James vocals are amazing as ever.
Outstanding gig as to be expected its Inglorious one of the best live bands around at this moment in time. The Boiler shop cracking venue as well, From start to finish the gig was tremendous,
It was amazing, the artists are so kind. Smiling during the whole thing. We got to meet up with them afterward and discuss a bit. So cool. I'd definitely recommand
