Hailing from Watford, Sikth have been a band for a long time and they are at the forefront of the genre, progressive metal, almost being this side of the Atlantic Ocean’s answer to their contemporaries, Meshuggah. Their genre is tight machine gun blasts of music where the whole band play some of the most intricate riffs in perfect sync with each other, of course matching the amazing quantized recordings that they lay down.
This band hasn’t released anything new in years but announce this evening on their comeback tour that they are working on a new EP that should be out next year. One of their biggest tracks this evening is a song called “Scent of the Obscene” which reels in the audience massively as it is the song of their set that every single person who bought a ticket knows. It even charted, over ten years in the UK singles chart, making it to number 78, which lets be honest, is pretty astonishing for a metal band.
SikTh were really good considering that it was the first show of the tour and half of the material had never been played in over a decade. It was rather loud, but still enjoyable. The crowd was energetic, and Mikee and Joe getting in the crowd. They played a few new songs, but mostly from DOADD. 10/10 would go again.
Best concert I've been to. The fanbase are really into them and being in the crowd was an amazing experience. Can't wait to see them again. I wish they did more concerts!
