I had heard Glasser, born Cameron Mesirow, on one of my Pandora radio stations and immediately fell in love with her music. I jumped on the computer to find one of her live shows because the odd choice in song names on her album really intrigued me to see what she was like.
Glasser really brings the art back to music in an age where the radio is full of mindless pop music. Yes she incorporates recorded electronic tracks but she also make sure to include a lot of live instrumentation in her shows. The stage was set-up so that she stood in the front with a mic, and in the back was another woman surrounded by both electronics, as well as various percussion instruments like a vibraphone and windchimes. After finishing off her first song “Shape,” she introduced herself and her musician as Shana Duncklmen. For the rest of her set she performed “Forge,” “Landscape,” and closed with “Design.” In between each she introduced the name of her song, and also promoted her newest album, 'Interiors.' What I appreciated the most about Glasser’s live set was that her vocals were spot on to her studio versions, which makes me gain more respect for her as an artist. Plus, there was something really cool about listening to an artist who is usually categorized under “electronic” using live instrumentation.
