The Andrews Sisters are truly Americana and are one of the best harmony groups out there. They actually began performing in the 20’s, yes that is the 1920’s! They were prominent all the way until the late 60’s and have sold millions upon millions of records. My grandfather used to listen to them sing and that is how I am familiar with them. I remember him dancing around the den singing “House of Blue Lights”. It was awesome!
My grandfather’s enthusiasm caused me to start enjoying this type of music and I still love it to this day. Although the last member of the band died in 2013 at the age of 94, their legacy still lives on. You, of course, won’t be able to see them perform live but you can find many tribute shows. They have a show called “Music and Memories” that recreates their performances. This is what I saw and it was so much fun. The tickets were reasonably priced and I really thought I was watching the real thing. The singers did a great job at recreating the music and taking you back to a different time. This is truly one of the best girl bands in history!
