The Heartbreaks are one of those very British bands with quite an emotionally driven back catalogue of material. Matthew Whitehouse definitely brings a dark vibe to the sound. They are no signed to emerging independent label, Nusic Sounds, and have over the last year have been firmly on the festival circuit broadening their following over time. I was fortunate enough to go and see just what they were like at the Dot 2 Dot Festival in Nottingham, which was such an electric set. They made such an impression on this audience making sure they felt welcome, making sure they were having the best time. They’re nothing but charisma, if a little bit cool for the situation, but their music speaks for itself. “Delay Delay” is probably the biggest song of their whole set with is chiming guitars and catchy chorus. They close this explosive set on one of their breakthrough singles to date, a track called “Winter Gardens”. Such fun.
