John Fullbright

The subject of two segments on NPR and was a 2012 winner of ASCAP Foundation's Harold Adamson Lyric Award, singer and songwriter, John Fullbright, continues to chug on and give his fans the performance they are looking for. The Americana folk artist was previously a part of the Turnpike Troubadours and Mike McClure Band, but it’s his solo work that really shines, especially in a live setting.

Armed with his guitar and harmonica, John keeps to the front of the stage and has a full band behind him supporting him. Watching his live set, I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone perform so passionately. The music literally moves through him and is manifested through his instruments and his voice. His lyrics run deep, and you can see each person take them in and interpret them to feel empathy, to feel the same emotions that John emits. He is fairly soft spoken, and doesn’t say much aside from a few words in between songs as he and his band tune up their instruments. By the end of his set, and after the long while spent with the audience cheering, I was slightly disappointed to have to leave the venue, as was, what seemed liked, everyone else.

I’ve been a music fanatic for 65 years. In my opinion, John Fullbright is the greatest thing to happen to music in decades. He is an unbelievable musician, writer, and performer. The energy coming from him in his shows is like a bomb exploding. Humble, talented, and his shows are FANTASTIC!!! Last night was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I will drive hundreds of miles to see him for as long as I’m able, as I did last night. THANK YOU, JOHN!

Just as John was opening his first ever Denton, Texas show terrorists were bombing and shooting up Paris, France. He opened with an acknowledgement of the violence and thanked us for coming out and not hiding at home....for coming out to support live music and PEACE. His song list was tailored to what we were all feeling........a great show.
