An Edgar Winter show is not an easy experience to forget and that is not just because his albino like appearance, long hair and occasional doll up of lipstick which by the way is amazing. He is an ingenious keyboard player. His compositions are complex and innovative and have the rare tendency to get stuck in your head for days. Winter has been wowing audiences since he first started releasing music. He was one of the first people to strap a keyboard around his shoulders and take it on the go. Edgar put no limit on the style of his music nor on his mobility when performing. He made sure that his shows were not going to be boring and he has accomplished that to this day. While you may no longer see him wielding around a gigantic Arp 2600 (one of the most legendary synthesizers) as he did in the 70s, he still has not lost his touch as a synth player. He now tours with a Korg Triton, which is not necessarily comparable to the Arp but it is a great keyboard nonetheless.
However the excitement of an Edgar Winter show does not lie at the heart of his instrumentation, but rather his performance. He has the audience in hysterics when he breaks out and plays “Frankenstein” and of course the audience cannot resist “Free Ride”. It is always a priority for Edgar to make sure the audience is pleased and it is safe to say he hardly disappoints.
