When you go to see Within the Ruins expect a premium of headbanging and a lack of movement to be at a minimum. The power and ferocity at which the metalcore quartet command the stage and their audience is something to be admired. Forming in 2003, in Westfield, Massachusetts, Within the Ruins are now somewhat seasoned professionals at stage performing and sounded heavy as every on their records, the latest of which was July 2014s 'Phenomena'.
As frontman Tim Goergen and co. bound across the stage with passion and a raw energy it is their visual presence that contributes to the antics in the crowd.
Watching the band dominate the stage the way they do it is impossible to resist the urge to mosh and headbang as if your life depends on it.
For all of this, however, you should not be put off by the supposed aggression of it all. Like most members of the metal family Within the Ruins are firm believers in the laws of the pit; if someone falls you pick them up, you make sure nobody is hurt. It is this that makes what occurs at many metal gigs an experience that can be enjoyed without fear of harm. After 11 years in the business Within the Ruins know how to please their crowd and the hope is, amongst those who may have seen them, that they continue doing it for many more years.
