The Acid played in the nice, small, grubby place called the Haunt, in front of about 100 people, I would guess. This was a hometown gig for Adam Freeland, so I'm surprised they couldn't have played somewhere bigger, like the Concorde2, seeing as the album "Liminal" has been so well received. Great to see a band in a small place like this though. Most of their songs start quietly and build, the bass throbs through your body and Ry X's delicate vocals swim through the room. The visual display behind (and overlaying) the band add to the dreamy effect, sucking you into The Acid's world. Hightlights were Creeper and Basic Instinct - which features a guitar breakout at the end by Ry X. Overall, a treat for the ears and eyes.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING LIVE!! Did I mention they are amazing live? The Acid put on a spectacular show. The guys weren't particularly high energy but they were really connected to the audience and you tell they were having a good time playing. The visuals combined with the instruments and his haunting voice gave will give you chills for days! I'd imagine it'd be better to "fully experience" them in an enclosed, smaller venue instead of a bigger outside venue as I think some of that magic could be lost.
Moral of the story- you uist see them! You'll regret it if you don't
Words cannot describe how awesome this show was. And such a great venue for an amazing band. Opening act was good too. Can't wait for the next show in Los Angeles!!
