Forest was a wonderful entertainer at Above Mosaic on Friday night in Smithville, TX (Hope Floats). And who knew he was an amazing piano player? Wonderful that a baby grand was ready and waiting! He's not just a great songwriter, he's a great singer and an amazing entertainer.
Despite some distraction from the audience he kept his cool, smiled, and then got the whole audience involved with his songs with clear 'sing along' instructions. His cool & calm demeanor, and sense of humor, made the show so much better.
I loved finding out that he has an interesting family history, and how that influences his music. He's playing at a house concert in Austin tonight, and I'm sad that it's sold out! With SXSW cancelled, it's wonderful that patrons are willing to host musical shows and welcome performers.
I'm hoping he can schedule a show at The Bugle Boy, one of the best listening rooms in the US. His excellent guitar work (and BB has a baby grand piano too) would be perfect in a place where patrons can hear every note, and all the subtle nuances of the songs he sings.
