As Cassie is a trained dancer as well as a beautiful singer, you are guaranteed a visually fantastic performance as well as vocally. Unless you were living under a rock in 2006, everyone will recognise 'baby tell me if you like it, tell me if you like it' from her most famous track 'Me & U', which was played almost continuously on the radio, in restaurants, bars, and night clubs, catapulting Cassie into the spotlight. This track gave her the break to work with artists such as Whiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne, widening her production and music experience.
When I saw her perform, it was a shame that she had been given a smaller stage at the festival and only a half an hour set. Although she has not gained much critical acclaim recently, the performance that she gave was one that should hopefully put her back on the map in terms of her music. The youthful energy and brilliant dancing was one thing, but she was able to sing every track perfectly whilst dancing. I didn't see her stop for air once, and even in her slower songs, the emotional conviction that she injected into every note resonated beautifully amongst the audience.
Throughout the performance, more and more festival goers stopped to see Cassie perform, and by the end of the set, everyone was dancing and singing along to the catchy tunes. I think that, after that fantastic show, if were to have been given another slot over the weekend, on the main stage, it would have been absolutely packed. Cassie was a brilliant all round performer who I hope gets the chance to tour more and more in the near future.
She was supposed to come on some time between 10pm and 2am at this nightclub. At about 1:20am I finally caught one of the managers and asked when she was coming. He said she cancelled. But apparently no one was ever going to mention it? Such a disappointment.
