Consisting of Tim Baker (vocals, guitar, piano), Josh Ward (bass, backing vocals), Adam Hogan (lead guitar), Phil Maloney (drums), Kinley Dowling (violin) and Romesh Thavanathan (cello), the band formed in 2005 in Newfoundland, Canada, often featuring additional musicians on tour. With their extensive lineup, the band create emotive folk-rock anthems, similar to fellow Canadians, Arcade Fire yet also finding influence from British orchestral-rock acts like Hope of the States and The Veils.
Having generated a significant buzz in their hometown through their live and radio performances, the band went into the studio in 2006 to record their first album, "Plan Your Escape." Their single, "Lions for Scottie," was featured as the ITunes Single of the Week, helping to build interest in the band. Their local success was celebrated through their achievement of several local and national awards, including 'Group of the Year.' The band soon signed to Canadian label, Sonic Records, re-releasing their debut album.
After embarking on several tours, they returned to the studio to record their second effort, "Into Your Lungs"(2008), which achieved a more cinematic sound. The band then broadened their audience through tours across Canada, US, Europe and Australia. Their third album, "Seeds," came out in 2011, recorded in only two sessions. The album was an immediate chart success, reaching number one in the ITunes Canadian Album Chart.
After several tours, supporting the likes of The Tragically Hip and Broken Social Scene, the band returned to the studio to record their fourth record, "Second Sight," which was released in October 2014. The album debuted at number six on the Canadian Albums Chart.

Newfoundland, Canada isn’t just the home of massive dogs, it’s the home of massive bands. Lets talk about Hey Rosetta! They are massive with there being seven of them, but seriously the indie rock and folk band who have been making waves either side of the Atlantic for the last decade almost. This band are the main event tonight ready to deliver their critically acclaimed breed of indie rock. The support bands have buttered up this audience enough in anticipation of this fantastic Canadian outfit.
The house lights dim, with just a few blue lights illuminating the stage, building a perfect setting the for this indie rock atmosphere. The drummer, Phil Maloney walks out and starts to hit the booming bass drum that shoots through the crowd, urging them to clap on the beat. When there is enough anticipation in the audience, that’s when the rest of the band take to the stage and they plough through the music that got them to where they are now. Playing songs such as “Yer Spring” which made it to 25 in the Canadian Alternative chart. “Welcome” is another song that generates enough buzz in this audience tonight to last the year.
I fell in love with Hey Rosetta! by seeing them live when they opened for Sarah Harmer nearly 5 years ago in London, ON. This is my 4th time seeing them, and they just keep getting better and better. Only complaint? They should have been headlining (not opening) and played a longer set. I did not get enough last night and I want more!!!
LOVE YOU GUYS!
Very talented gifted musicians. GReat performance. Lyrics were slightly unclear and muffled to me....but I often have that issue.
It would have been nice to hear bit more of their older material...but then again they were the opening band....and ppromoting new Cd tunes. Thankfully they Come to Calgary occasionally so can see them again.
Fantastic set by Hey Rosetta! Much better than Stars, who weren't great, unfortunately, but go see HR if you get a chance. Just a warm, fun show with incredibly talented performers that are in perfect sync with each other. The group really seems to love playing together. Loved it.
Unforgettable show! Very fun and engaging. Beautiful light setup. Played all the best songs. I am glad they moved the concert to a bigger venue (Phoenix Theatre) so that more people were able to share this amazing experience! The encore was perfect. I wish all the best to them!
Great Show, Rich Aucoin was really fun too, very engaging, everyone was well behaved and just happy to be there...We wish them all the best in NL! Thanks Phoenix for hosting!
