Becky Jean Williams’ silky soprano broke through the silence, singing the middle section of Empty Streets without any backing from the rest of Late Night Alumni. The audience fell silent and let the delicate voice wash over them. She kept singing as the rest of the band came on stage and took their positions, they slowly all joined in with Williams, and brought the track up to it’s climax.
The combination of strings and trance vocals on top of more generic chill out house music makes for a really fresh and exciting new sound. The band are super talented multi-instrumentalists and watching them live just draws you in to their talented bubble, and makes you appreciate how much work goes into each sound that they produce.
Hearing both their old and new music was really nice, as you can hear the subtle contrasts from their musical progression. Although their music is super chilled out, they were really good at getting the crowd going, and had everyone dancing along. They really are some of the most talented musicians I’ve seen live.
