It would be a bit ridiculous to write an introduction to 5ive. The British boy band were huge in the 90s, releasing hit after hit. Songs like "Keep on Moving" and "If Ya Getting Down" were hits worldwide, with this success earning them a BRIT award as 'Best Pop Act' in 2000. Shortly after they split but now they have returned, embarking on tours since 2012, which look set to continue in the future. However, whilst they are still called 5ive, there is now only four, with Jason 'J' Brown declining the invitation to reunite with his former band members.
Despite the many years of absence, they appear still full of energy, performing their classic tracks with still the same level of spunk as they once did in their earlier years. Their 'Greatest Hits' tour in 2013 was an undeniable success, wooing audiences across the country in large arena venues. Seeing them play in Newcastle was a delight and was pure entertainment, revelling in the chance to relive my youth and hear the songs I danced to as a kid. Sometimes there is nothing more satisfying than the opportunity for some nostalgia. The group obviously still enjoyed singing their songs, expelling any criticisms that their reunion was likely only motivated at the chance to 'cash-in' once more on an act that has past its sell-by-date. But 5ive displayed an energy that suggested they were eager to continue this new stage of the group's existence and push into further territories that they have not reached in the past.
