Yin made his first ever electronic track in 2005 while still in high school, however didn’t pursue music production seriously until in his dorm room in college and after he had graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Political Economics. The name Giraffage derives from a grafitti artist’s tag of a similar name near where the producer lives in San Jose, California.
In 2011 Yin released the EP “Pretty Things” and the album “Comfort” to positive if not limited reviews, and around the same time became revered for his remixes of popular R&B songs featuring ambient, atmospheric effects with diced-up vocals. Following these successes the producer played a number of esteemed electronic venues across the States and went on a 30-date European tour in 2012 with Orlando producer XXYYXX. Giraffage and XXYYXX went on to release a shared EP “Even Though” later in 2012.
Yin signed with Alpha Pup Records in early 2013 through which he release his second album “Needs”. The album depicts the very difficult and personal time the producer had during college with a mix of aptly used samples and a trippy vibe. Yin subsequently played a number of major festivals including The Treasure Island Music Festival 2013 and The Brooklyn Electronic Music U.S. Festival and released his third EP “No Reason” in 2014.

I first heard of Giraffage when he played at a Nightlife event at The Academy of Science in SF in 2013. He opened for Nosaj Thing, therefore, we THOUGHT we knew what type of music he would play....Boy, were we wrong!
Think: Future, 8Bit, Trap and Unicorns all mixed together to create a wave of mind melting sounds that ask your body and brain to move to the beat. When you're at a live set put on by Giraffage, every time he transitions to a new song the crowd goes crazy! Everyone is on the same level, enjoying the same sounds and songs, on the same beat. If you get a chance to look at the crowd from the outside, you'd probably notice the crowd moves in unison as they jump and chant and fist pump til 2am! It is an absolutely amazing experience and it is the best feeling to be one with the music as he pumps all that bass out of his Macbook!
I have been following Giraffage to all of his local shows ever since I first heard him that night in SF. I figured it'd only be a matter of time before he blows up so I've taken advantage of seeing him in smaller venues such as: Neck of the Woods, Rickshaw and New Parish. He gets you high without any type of drug...it's mesmerizing!
I was really surprised by his performance. I was expecting something more similar to the laid back beats he was known for. I thought he played a lot harder than he needed to as an opener for Slow Magic. It felt too high energy from the beginning and was really hard to ease into. He played a wide variety of tracks, but left me feeling lost in all the different styles and pop remixes that I didn't recognize. I love his albums, but I just was not feelin this performance. I would have loved to hear him perform the tracks I know him for.
I had a terrible experience I bought 4 tickets to this show and my girlfriend bought 2 more we spent over 168$ for this show and were not allowed in I attempted to get my money back at the venue and was told I had to get it back from song kicker the people managing the venue were completely racist and this treatment was unacceptable, I was unable to see and experience great music this is tragic
He canceled same night with only a Twitter post as notification. Smh... drove to venue only to see confused peeps standing outside and closed gates. Wish an email or text would have been sent out. Giraffage your still my boi just the flaky kind I guess. See you all there next month :)
Very consistent with what you'll find of him on YouTube, but mixed a lot of Top 40/90s hits in his live set. I've never seen Nuemos so packed/so ravey - the vibe of the audience didn't really match the venue. His set at WaMu before Porter was a much better setting.
spectacular! He definitely was full of energy and knows how to interact with the crowd! The giant LED screen was fantastic and had all the quirkiness you would expect from Giraffage!More flying dogs and cats. Loved all the 8bit and 16 bit style anime art!
I saw Giraffage in July and I am going to see him again in November. He is such a great artist, really creative with his samples. The energy at his concert was so amazing, it would be really hard to have a bad time in his presence at a show.
Saw Giraffage at the Due South festival in McLaren Park. He laid down some chill sounds, and had the crowd on their feet dancing. He seemed to have a more upbeat, party vibe than when I saw him with Slow Magic in the So Cute tour in 2015.
Giraffage and spazzkid both understand the needs of their audience/fans. Lots of amazing beats, amazing background videos, and fried chicken. It was my first time seeing them live and it won't be my last. Come back soon?
Only played songs from his new album and remixed stuff like miley cyrus party in the usa. The audio was amazing, but the overall preformance was disapointing cause he did not play his first album.
