Paul Woolford

Paul Woolford, also known as Special Request under his jungle alias, is highly regarded in the dance music industry for his underground techno productions and storming live sets. Woolford is most known for his track 'Untitled (Call Out Your Name)'. 'Untitled' is a six minute long club stomper which opens with infectious piano house keys before equally as catchy female vocals kick in. It was one of the biggest Ibiza tracks of last year and is still a regular in DJ's club and festival playlists. Other than 'Untitled', Woolford has remixed the likes of George Fitzgerald's 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' and Disclosure featuring London Grammar's 'Help Me Lose My Mind'. Luckily, all three are regularly slotted into Woolford's sets. I got the chance to see him in action at this year's Everywhere festival. Playing a 4-6am set of mainly underground techno, it was late night heaven. Bright flashing spotlights lit up the DJ decks while the underground techno beats rattled through the packed Rock City venue. I felt like I had been transported to an underground, ahead of its time, techno club venue in Berlin for Timewarp festival, certainly not where I actually was, in Nottingham!
