Stick To Your Guns

Orange County metal band, Stick to Your Guns are one of the heaviest bands around spinning a breed of death metal with the heaviest guitars turned up to 11, playing music to some of the rowdiest hordes I’ve ever seen. They are one of those bands similar to the contemporaries, A Day to Remember, but where ADTR have more commercial sounding choruses, that without the heavy guitars, maybe Backstreet Boys could have performed, Stick to Your Guns go extremely heavy in their verses playing some extremely heavy riffs lacing in a certain dissonance, down tuning their guitars, also paired with the double kick drum machine gun beats played in perfect sync with the guitars and bass, to a slow down tempo beat. There has to be a correlation between this genre of music and the most movement in moshpits. I’m going to be honest, this mosh pit is absolutely terrifying, there are also audience members running up on stage and then stage diving! How fun!

It’s funny to think that Bane began as a small project between Aaron Dalbec and Damon Bellardo seeing how far they’ve come today! The hardcore punk band are renowned for putting on high energy shows, where they let the audience up on stage in order to jump off and crowd surf across the venue. The atmosphere was incredible, if a little intense, but everyone was totally invested in the music and appeared to be long time fans who knew the music inside out, so everyone was singing along.

They played a really great selection of tracks, right from when the line up of the band was different, up to their new material and tracks from The Note. When they played Wasted On the Young, they gave a brief explanation about the message of the song, which was really great to hear directly from the band. They also held out the microphone during sections of the track, encouraging everyone to sing along which was great. They closed the show with Calling Hours, and each band member played an epic solo, including a wild vocal performance that had everyone cheering non stop. There’s no denying that the music was fantastic, and if you don’t mind being pushed around a little, the atmosphere is awesome too.
