An instrumental trio reimagining ancient music through improvisation.
From Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Heian Japan.
Erika Sato | contrabass, violin
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Erika Sato began studying violin at age nine and later entered Kunitachi College of Music as a violin major. During her studies she began performing as a jazz bassist.
She works across genres including jazz, pop, free jazz, free improvisation, Afro-pop, and Latin music, both as performer and composer/arranger.
Since 2019 she has also explored 3DCG and VR live painting, and is currently active as a VR live painter as well.
Ryoji Yamaguchi | guitar, viola d'amore
Guitarist and composer exploring Ancient Greek music, Mediterranean traditions, and improvisational expression.
Born in Israel, he was exposed from childhood to diverse musical cultures in Greece, Mexico, and El Salvador.
Blending classical guitar technique, historical research, and free improvisation, his work bridges ancient musical cultures with contemporary experimental sound.
He has performed at festivals and concert venues throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan, and has released numerous albums featuring original compositions, Ancient Greek music, Heian-period biwa repertoire, and improvisations.

Yuji Ishihara | drums, synthesizer
Born in Osaka in 1986, Yuji Ishihara is a drummer, percussionist, and improvising musician.
Using the drum set as his primary instrument, he develops improvisations centered on rubbing, striking, plucking, and rolling techniques, performing both solo and in a wide range of collaborative settings.
