Biografia
The group began like many others when high school friends, in this case Peter Furler, George Perdikis. John James, and Sean Taylor decided to start a band. Newsboys were initially signed in 1987 by Refuge Communications, which is when they moved to the US, and released their debut album, “Read All About It.”
The band quickly moved on from the lacklustre performance of their debut, releasing two successive albums in the early 90’s, with the line-up changing between each release. In 1992, the band broke out onto the Christian music scene with their third album “Not Ashamed”, but it was not until 1995, after even more line-up changes that Newsboys found true success with their DOVE award winning album “Going Public”. The album spawned four no.1 hit singles for the band, who did not rest on their laurels, following up with a consecutive number one album in 1996 “Take Me To Your Leader.”
In 1999, Peter Furler, moved from drums to lead singer, after fellow founding member John James left the group. Furler was lead singer for a further 12 years, leading Newsboys through a successful second decade that saw the release of seven studio albums and a greatest hits compilation. In 2009, Furler himself stepped down, making him the final founding member of the band to leave. He was replaced Grammy award winning former DC talk member, Michael Tait.
During the Tait era, the band have continued their success, issuing a further three albums for their fans, the latest being 2013’s “Restart”. The band were also recently involved with the soundtrack and filming of smash hit Christian motion picture, “God’s Not Dead!”
The band has released a total of 16 studio albums, with six reaching gold status. Newsboys have also received four Grammy nominations; making them on of the most successful Christian orientated musical acts ever.

The concert was phenomenal, with so much high energy and praising our Lord. The amazing lights, special effects, and I have no idea how in the world they did the spinning of the drummer towards the end. It was more than I ever expected. These guys truly love the Lord and are doing this to bring Him glory and share the gospel with everyone there. They were very personal with our Missoula city which made it that much more fun. But what made my night was that we were doing what SOS had done a few weeks before when the News Boys were there, honoring our Law Enforcement out front of the venue, with them and their cars, having the fans put sticky notes on their cars and write notes of thanks and encouragement, offering prayers. The Officers were so blessed and the local TV came by and captured all of that and when we asked if the News Boys had a few minutes for us, they were gracious enough to let us interview them for a little TV coverage, again to honor our Law Enforcement and it was amazing to hear how much they care about the positive side of what our Officers do for us, keeping us safe every day, so thank you News Boys! You made Missoula, Montana proud and blessed our Law Enforcement Officers as well!!!
You will love this concert! The Newsboys play an outstanding mix of Christian Contemporary, Rock & Roll, Hip-Hop, Rap, Head-banging, Jumping, Jazzy, Gospel, Reggae and some beautiful Soulful Ballads. Outstanding vocals by Michael, Jody and Jeff and one crazy Aussie Drummer, Duncan who plays a run in "Jesus Freak" while strapped to a vertical spinning drum kit! INCREDIBLE!! These men of God sure know how to deliver God's message through their music. I seem to relate to most of the song lyrics from the albums "Born Again", "God's Not Dead", "Restart" and "Hallelujah for the Cross". If you don't want to feel the pressure in your chest from some of the deeper beats, then don't sit within 50 feet of the front of the stage! Some of them are intense! I wear earplugs that allow me to hear a clear sound without the external static of the crowd. Be sure to wear COMFORTABLE shoes! From the opening song to the final encore, YOU WILL NOT SIT DOWN! To be able to freely worship our Lord Jesus Christ with thousands of other believers, is easily the most powerful form of prayer on earth! To do exactly what we were created to do! Thank you Michael for always making it a fun show! You make me smile. Thanks, Dee
The crowd was screaming, the venue was gigantic, and the music was AMAZING!
This was Christian rock music at it's best. I was so into it. There had to have been thousands of people. They played a lot of music from their album God's Not Dead and Born Again. Hard to go wrong with those! The stage lights kept flashing and it was great with the beat of the music. They had lights coming out from the center of the stage, flashing over the audience, flashing red and white. They had one of those stages that goes into the center of the audience, jutting out from the center, and there was a lot of interaction with the audience!
Michael Tate was in a white jacket with a black top and pants- very classy, as was the rest of the band. I know they've had a lot of changes in members, but this dude was KILLING it. He's really doing a great job not destroying Peter's vision of the band, and he's bringing his own personal touch. I really wish they would have played older songs, though. That being said, I'm still looking forward to all their new albums, and you can still label me a fan. I'm definitely buying tickets to the next local concert.
This was our first Newsboys concert and it will not be our last! We decided to do the VIP Experience and were glad we did. In the meet and greet, the guys were friendly and approachable. They chose to pose for photos with each of us instead of doing autographs which I thought was awesome. After the meet and greet, we were taken to our front and center seats where the show started with John Tibbs. Awesome singer! Then we were introduced to Finding Favour and they definitely found 3 new fans in us! Audio Adrenaline then took the stage and put on a fantastic show. And then the Newsboys came out and rocked the house! Absolutely amazing performance and stage show! The highlight of the night was the Newsboys performance of Jesus Freak complete with the drummer's (Duncan Phillips) spinning show. I'm still amazed that he can drum like that! Thanks to all the performers for a great time of worshiping our God!
Concert was good, not as good as last year but good. I don't like rap music but the young man who did the rapping was pretty good except he grabbed his crotch like some do. This is totally inappropriate for church. Michael Tate said "good Lord almighty" which he probably doesn't stop and think about, but it's using the Lord's name in vain. The drummer threw water on the crowd at the end and that was just not right, I'm sure the people he threw it on did not like it! Other that these things it was good to be in a place where that many Christians were gathered together to lift up the name of Jesus! I would suggest the lyrics be on screen more so we can know what they are singing because the music tends to drown out the singers. They did and awesome job! Thank you.
My husband doesn't even like rock and he was blown away. Newsboys are fabulous, extremely talented and put on a mind blowing show! They are a must see! Watching all the young adults in the audience was a blast too. They were captivated by the band and their message. Also, something very special happened to me before the concert started. I was running in the rain to get to the ticket box and ran into the lead singer of Newsboys. He could have walked on about his business getting ready for his show but he said to me "your getting wet" put his umbrella over me and walked me to the ticket booth under the shelter. Wow! What a real gentleman with a kind heart and beautiful smile. He shows true love for mankind and what poise!
It was an amazing night at the Newsboys concert at Landmark Theatre. What really stuck out to me is how real and down to earth the Newsboys were about their faith. Incredible music and lights. My favorite part is when the drummer's platform tilted sideways during one of their songs ( I think it was Jesus Freak). Thanks to them it makes me want to get closer to God and I found it funny that three of them were PK's, because I'm a PK.
The only downfall is that the concert had to quit. I would have sat for another hour or two just listening to them, but alas good things come to end sometimes. Lol!
Definitely would encourage anyone to go out and see them on tour. Fantastic night!

I went to see Newsboys in concert last night in Port Huron, MI. The music quality was absolutely fantastic and you could tell it was real. The message was absolutely awe-inspiring and even the warm up bands (John Tibbs, Finding Favor, Audio Adrenaline) were fantastic performers. During Hesus Freak the Newsboys drummer, Duncan Philips did a crazy, awesome stunt where his stand with him and the drums on it turned completly verticle and spun in a circle. Itshard to describe but it was so cool to watch him even throigh out the rest of the night too. He really gets into it! I wpuld absolutely suggest Newsboys concerts to any Christian music enthusiests! WE BELIEVE GOD'S NOT DEAD!
The Newsboys show was amazing. It started with the Q and A. It was really available for everyone who had a question to get the opportunity. It started on time, everything was very smooth. The actual show was better than expected. Amazing lighting and effects especially the rotating drum solo. Audience was fully involved, unlike most other concerts. The artist interaction was a big part of the enjoyment. I would highly recommend it. I would suggest open up more backstage pass opportunity, but I do understand limiting it. I am checking their schedule to see if I can catch another show.
I feel like everyone knows the Newboys and how well they perform by now. But just in case you're reading this and you don't know much about them. THEY ARE PHENOMENAL!!! I have followed Michael Tait since he was in the group DC Talk, 20+ years ago. My daughter and I won Meet & Greet passes from the State Fair so we got to shake their hands, hug their necks and take a picture with the band. We sat 2nd row and were nearly blown away by the speakers they were so loud, but so awesome! I will never grow tired of their music and especially their message of hope. They are a MUST SEE!!
