Luminox

Beginning his musical career with aspirations of becoming a dirty south hip-hop producer, Luminox (David Lopez Jr. to his mum) discovered EDM and electronica around 2008. After immersing himself in the music and its accompanying scene for a while, Lopez found a way of combining his newfound love of House and techno with his original passion for hip-hop. By discovering producers and DJ’s like Flosstradamus and Hatchmatik, he got into trap music, and found that there was already a whole scene of artists adding dance beats and techno hooks to enormous hip-hop beats. Lopez was hooked, and by 2009 he was already posting his tracks onto Beatport and performing his first live sets as a DJ.

As time went on, his live sets became notorious for spiralling out of control as they went on due to the sheer ferocity of his music, but it wasn’t until 2012, and the release of his remix of the Bingo Players’ “Rattle”, that he became a genuine force in the trapstyle scene. Since then, his live sets have gone from strength to strength, selling out bigger and bigger venues all over the world while also keeping the anarchic, chaotic edge that his early shows had in spades. He’s also been massively prolific at the same time, releasing a steady stream of tracks and remixes onto Beatport and Soundcloud. Luminox is what the future of music looks like, and whether or not you like the music itself, he’s deserving of anyone’s respect because of it. For being one of the best live acts in EDM with the world at his feet, Luminox comes highly recommended.
