Unfortunately, like often with such guitars bands on stage, the sound was awful. I think this is mainly due to poorly balanced instruments, but also, to a lesser extent, to the band's will to play as loud as possible. Thus guitar melodies, and even words sung by Bateh Reid were hardly perceived. So, quite disappointed... from a gig I was expecting a lot.
Anyhow, I'm still happy for having the opportunity to see Bambara on stage in France, considering the few dates scheduled in our country, and the fact that I'm living far from Paris. And it allows me to admire the incredible energy that Blaze Reid puts in drumming. OTOH, his stage dressing was totally improbable: illustrated shirt, large sport shorts with long socks and black shoes... what a style! (sorry Blaze ;-) )
Also, they were preceded by the young canadian collective: Crack Cloud who delivers a very good set, well balanced this time, even with four guitars plus a bass (but OK, their music is pretty different from Bambara's).
Bambara are the real deal! Live they are loud, polished, emotional and incredibly connected with their fans.
Reid loves pulling and pushing into the crowd, sharing the intimate lyrics with fans face to face and carrying them through the recesses of his mind.
Hell is around the corner with gothic post punk noise rock that's rhythmic, head nodding and deeply engaging.
Lyrically they are amazing, pulling you into a dark world of death, psychotic perceptions and horror.
Shadow on Everything is epic, it's a grand scale album beautifully engineered and glimpses of their new album Stray, released on 14th Feb 2020 reveal an even deeper look into our fears.
This gig at Sebright Arms in Bethnal Green, London was sold out months before and lived up to the expectation. Something old and something new was played with an accuracy seen only in the very professional musicians. Come back soon Bambara!

Bambara are without a doubt, a superb live act who can take you through a whirlwind of noise rock, post-punk and sound scape beauty the like of which I've never seen.
Touring with their new album, Shadow on Everything and reviving tracks from their previous album Swarm, the school friends Blaze Bateh, his brother Reid and William Brookshire tour with Brian and Sammy to bring us an evening sweet heaven.
Authentic and loud, the venue was too small for the concert hall sound but they kindly played we rode the magic carpet into their world.
Amazing and a must see performance...catch them live on their European tour 2018
