Seemed like a quiet Monday night at the Clwb, with only a handful queuing outside the venue. After 15 minutes Kyoko kicked off the night with a synth and guitar mix to warm us up - a few more had drifted in and I could see it was filling up. Kyoko received a good reception. Next was Baby in Vain, who smashed it up with a heavy dose of double guitars and a decent grunge sound. Audience warmed up whether they want to be or now(!) Next PINS. A nice mix of old songs (Girls Like Us, Dazed By You), and new (from the new Bad Things EP), including the inspired cover of Joy Division's 'Lost Souls'. They won over the crowd almost instantly and ended with a well received encore having dragged half the crowd onto stage to dance out the last two songs. Amazing night from a brilliant band that echoes elements of both Sleater Kinney and Hole. Recommended.
