Yes, Roupa Nova are a Brazilian pop band, but please don’t let the language barrier put you off going to see them. Their pop rock sound is incredibly catchy and contagious, and I can guarantee that you’ll want to dance from start to finish. The band opened their show with an epic jam and improvisation all on their own instruments, before launching into their track Linda Demais. Although I didn’t understand they lyrics, the band’s performance was totally spot on, and through their facial expressions and body language, they very clearly revealed the narrative of each track.
Each band member is incredibly talented, and hearing them play improvised instrumental solos really demonstrated the capacity of their talent, and had them interacting with each other really well. They were all extremely high in energy, and it seemed to bounce off onto the crowd, because I’m sure no one sat down for the entire show.
They were great at interacting with the crowd, and they even taught us a section of chorus from one of their tracks to sing along! They’re genuinely lovely guys who put on the most fantastic show!
