Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion presents two special nights celebrating the women who have left an indelible mark on the blues. From the pioneering voices of Koko Taylor and Bessie Smith to the soul power of Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, “Ladies Sing the Blues” shines a light on some of the greatest female voices in blues and beyond.

The concert was part of the excellent Boom Fest mini blues festival held as the famous Half Moon in Putney

Marcus is one of four lead guitarists who plays in the Boom Band and they all took their turns to play daytime sets under their own names

The evening session was kicked off by the excelent Dove & Boweevil

The Boom Band returned to the home of their live album recording in 2014 (which I also attended)and played a barnstorming set. The band comprise:

Jon Amor - guitar/vocals
Mark Butcher - guitar/vocals
Marcus Bonfanti - guitar/vocals
Paddy Milner - keyboards/vocals
Matt Taylor - guitar/vocals

Plus rythym section

Jack Hutchinson replaced Bonfanti for one number (or maybe Bonfanti just borrowed a hat)
