Reopened by Proud Group as Brighton Ballrooms on Friday 2nd June 2010, the seaside venue formerly known as the Hanbury Ballrooms is the retro club, dance hall and cabaret venue of the South. At the heart of local history for 200-years, the Ballrooms has transformed from a mausoleum, boxing club, high-class gentleman's club and even an air-raid shelter in WW2. Proud Group continue Brighton Ballrooms' legacy as a popular music venue from its June launch date and in the late autumn following a £300k refurbishment, will officially re-launch to also run as a luxury Supper Club. Proud has postponed its renovation and restaurant plans in order to where possible, honour and cater for the many bookings that were lost on the withdrawal of the Hanbury's licence.
