DROWNING HORSE (AUS)
Sheltering Sky Australian Album Tour
October/November 2015
Punishing Perth doom outfit Drowning Horse are proud to announce their first Australian Tour in support of their second album Sheltering Sky.
First things first: Drowning Horse are heavy, and Sheltering Sky is probably the heaviest record you’ll hear all year. In their short history, the Perth outfit have mastered the art of massive weight, imbuing every aspect of their sound with unmatchable immensity. And in that heaviness lies something primal – something earthshaking and bone-rattling and so vital it strikes at the heart of the human condition in its most bleak and fragile state.
Channeling the monumental heft of Neurosis and the reflective meditations of Earth, Drowning Horse are the sound of the ground ripping apart and the aftermath that follows catastrophe. With their complex marriage of blackened drone, doom, sludge, crust and metal, Drowning Horse have crafted something unto itself – something so powerful and emotionally demanding it’s physically exhausting to hear. Rest assured, this is not easy listening: this is music for extreme moods and extreme conditions, and on Sheltering Sky, Drowning Horse have refined their ability to channel those extremes.
