Dub-a-dub-a-dum-dum, Christmas Time is here! For our seasonal spectacular we’ll heave open our wooden doors, dust off the snow from our boots and invite you to an eggnog of engaging musical experiences.
First to guide us this afternoon will be ‘Stars’, a new seasonal compilation album of future Christmas classics from the wiaiwya label featuring The Catenary Wires - Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey (ex Heavenly, Talulah Gosh etc), who will be evolving into a four-piece, with Fay Hallam and Andy Lewis (keyboards and bass). Next up Whoa Melodic, which is the solo project (and anagram) of Michael Wood (Michaelmas/Singing Adams/Hayman Kupa Band), a man with an unnatural obsession with Paul McCartney and an extraordinary knack of conjuring a memorable tune.
Next travelling from Liverpool will be Jonathan Hering (Ex-Easter Island Head and The Aleph) who’ll present his debut solo album, Carmina Chromatico on Brawl Records, featuring twelve polyphonic vocal tracks all sung by Jonathan. With his DIY sensibilities Jonathan takes Early Music out of the Historically Informed Performance idiom to sing every part in his own voice, eschewing the centuries of performance etiquette it has become entrenched in.
We’ll finish with a seasonal serenade from The Ho-Ho-Horns which is made up of players from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Horn Ensemble and horn octet Cor8, coached by renowned composer, arranger and horn player Richard Bissill, who’ll be performing a flexible line-up of showstoppers including music from the London Horn Sound as well as some festive tunes.
