Kathryn’s show is every inch the performance art piece as she does not engage with the audience during the show. She leaves the piano only to sip her wine which is placed within a desk lamp sculpture behind her and rearrange the mirror installation which surrounds her piano. She spends an hour playing songs mainly from her latest album ‘From when I wake’. Beautiful renditions of her intense thought provoking songs which enthrall the somewhat art house and impeccably behaved crowd. In her rope cum pyjama pink costume with hair in a bun she fits her surroundings well. I would have liked to spend longer with her given that she is the only performer of the evening but she makes a very sociable and grateful appearance in the bar afterwards and those of us who wait are rewarded with her genuinely friendly presence.
I saw Lomond at the Heavenly Weekend in Hebden Bridge, he was the first act of two (Halo Maud second) on the Saturday to an afternoon audience. I had attended specifically to see Halo Maud and I hadn't previously heard Lomond. Nothing like stumbling upon an artist whom has natural talent...
Lomond was very charismatic, his lyrics were very deep and his guitar playing was exceptional.
Lomond was very charming, especially to the female members of the audience (why not?) and I thank god for his musical talent, his attempts at a Yorkshire Accent were the worst I have ever heard and he sounded more like a Scandinavian (I did tell him this to his face and I am happy to report the man has a great sense of humour also !!) but, he was readily forgiven as his passion for his songs was apparent and delivered by a very melodic, soulful voice as well as being no beginner on that guitar...
Definitely worth seeing... 17/20
Advice to Lomond - It's definitely the MUSIC Lomond, but I admire you for the attempt at impressions lol
