Cairo Steps and Basem Darwisch

Cairo Steps is an Egyptian-German world music and jazz ensemble founded in 2002 by Egyptian-German oud player and composer Basem Darwisch.

The band is known for blending traditional Egyptian and Middle Eastern music, Sufi influences, jazz improvisation, classical music, and contemporary sounds. Their music aims to build cultural bridges between the East and the West through a unique fusion of musical traditions.
Award: German Jazz Award (Gold) in 2018 for the album Flying Carpet (with Quadro Nuevo).
