Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel grew up together in the Upper West side of New York, and as they got older would make music together. They even took part in the hip-hop group, Automato. The group made a debut album, but unfortunately never went any further, and the members split ways, that is, except for Millhiser and Frankel, who continued to work together.
The duo originally set out as a hip-hop group, but the more they experimented with the sounds and adding vocals, they started to produce more indietronica/ synthpop music. In 2007 they released their first single, “Hold On,” and continued to remix various other songs from the likes of MGMT, Cut Copy and Moby. Holy Ghost! released their second single “I Will Come Back” in 2009 in conjunction with Green Label Sound record label, which was later included on their 2010 EP, “The Wire.” That same year, the duo saw found themselves performing live for the first time, going on tour with LCD Soundsystem; while on tour, they added guitarist/percussionist Chris Maher, synth player Erik Tonnesen, synth/percussionist Sam Jones, and drummer Jim Orso to fill out their sound.
Finally on 2 April 2011 the duo released their first debut album entitled “Holy Ghost!” followed two years later by their sophomore album “Dynamics.”

Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel better known as the Brooklyn electro/synth-pop duo Holy Ghost have gained a huge reputation considering they only appeared on the circuit in 2007. They are doing something relatively different in a time where more and more pop/dance acts seem to simply stand behind their DJ decks and spin track after track. Having a vocalist and DJ adds a different dynamic, one that the crowd can relate to far more easily, making it feel like a live show as opposed to a simple set.
These guys make sure they are involved with their audience throughout the show and as the following of Holy Ghost is often described as cult-like, they feel it their duty to really get personal with the front rows. They play a good mix between the first two albums, featuring the popular singles 'Say My Name' and 'I Will Come Back' which goes over really well. They work in their innovative remixes into the set effortlessly and keep the whole crowds moving throughout. It is a really exciting time for the duo and with a solid discography and expert live show they have a great amount of potential to conquer globally with the next release.
Holy Ghost!, founded by two cool guys from the Upper West Side who fled for the cooler borough of Brooklyn, never disappoint in their live performances.
Their sound has been described as disco (but not really) but the best way to describe them is dance. You WILL dance during their shows; it's inevitable.
They tend to play smaller venues but as their popularity grows, so does the size of their crowd. Try to check them out locally in NYC because that's where they really shine and are most comfortable.
Another amazing show from this duo. These dropped floor fillers all night long. I can't wait for them to come back to Los Angeles. My only gripe was for the very long and SLOW line there was to enter for people who ALREADY had tickets. Club Rhondasvous was an excellent host other wise. Holy Ghost were pretty cool to met them on the patio. Great show! I danced my ass off all night long!
Not a writer and don't have much time, but I can say the show was a lot of fun. hope they come back soon. I felt St. Lucia should have been ahead of Holy Ghost! I feel Holy Ghost is a much better band. Peace.

Great show with awesome energy and a near perfect setlist. I love shows at U Street because it's a small place and you get to be close to the artists. Can't wait to see another show there.
