Although he’s dubbed as a rock singer, Hawksley Workman has some incredible indie/ singer songwriter ballads under his belt, and when he opened the show with his track Safe and Sound, it was then that I realised that he is an incredibly sincere musician, as well as an incredible pop and glam rock artist.
He played an awesome set with his band, and when he played No Beginning No End, he got everyone singing along with him by holding out the microphone and shouting ‘come on everybody’, which was incredible, as it made everyone feel super involved in the show. Workman’s guitar playing is even better live than I had previously though, and seeing his fingers dance gently over the fret board was wonderful, and a real showcase of his talent. The show was around 2 hours long, and he and the entire band maintained their high energy throughout the show, and held the audience in their hands from start to finish.
As well as the musical performances, the lighting and venue wee perfect and carefully thought out with the amps in perfect positions so that they sound balance was great throughout the whole auditorium. He put on a great varied show really demonstrating his talent, I’d definitely see him again.
